Ms. Silpa Ravindran

Counselling Psychologist focused on adolescents, families, and evidence-based interventions.

Silpa Ravindran is a counselling psychologist focused on adolescents, families, and evidence-based interventions.

She holds an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology and has 10 years of clinical experience, much of it spent working with young people and the families around them. Silpa understands that adolescents rarely come to therapy on their own terms — and that the work often begins by earning trust before anything else can happen.

Parents describe her as a clinician who takes them seriously too. She doesn’t side with the child against the family, or with the family against the child — she works with the system, helping each person see what the others are carrying. With younger clients she’s patient and playful; with teens, she’s respectful, direct, and not easily put off.

Therapeutic Approach

Silpa draws primarily from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy adapted for adolescents, with elements of family-systems work where the home environment is part of the picture. With younger clients she uses play, drawing, and structured activities; with teenagers, the conversation looks more like adult therapy with developmentally appropriate adjustments.

She also works directly with parents — coaching them through specific behavioural challenges, school-related anxiety, and the typical (and atypical) friction of the adolescent years. Many families find that parent-only sessions, alongside or instead of child sessions, are the most effective intervention.
